Topsail Beach Real Estate and Community Information
The town of Topsail Beach is on the southernmost end of Topsail Island. It is the smallest of the three towns on the 26-mile island. Topsail Beach has been named among 14 beautiful little beach towns in the United States. The island and the town are in between Jacksonville and Wilmington. Topsail Beach was incorporated in 1963 and has their own police force and fire department, Pender County services supplement.
With only about 500 year-round residents and with 1200 homes, Topsail Beach welcomes a great many tourists in season but also has a lot of solitude in the off-season. For many, Topsail Beach living is in the form of a second home or as a weekend getaway with income producing rental options.
There is plenty to do in this beautiful little beach town. An abundance of shops and restaurants flourish while the beach or sound beckons. There is a town marina with a boat launch and slips for anchoring. There is a popular fishing pier and each fall you will see the best King Mackerel fishermen upon her testing their skill. There are also deep sea fishing trips available. Topsail is renowned for its fishing.
Mother Ocean isn't the only water attraction in Topsail Beach, sound side access to the Intracoastal Waterway can be found on nearby Lea Island, and exquisite sound side views can be enjoyed from Serenity Point. With a rich history in World War II service, Topsail Beach maintains a Missiles and More Museum chronicling the island's contributions.
Topsail Beach welcomes your four-legged friends year around, but dogs must be leashed from May 15th to September 30th. Topsail Beach is also home to the Autumn with Topsail Festival each October, featuring beach music, original art, fun, food, and games.
Legend has it that Topsail, pronounced as Tops'l, was named so from pirate ships hiding behind her leaving only their topsails remotely visible. Topsail Beach continues to be the perfect place to "hide away".
