Nearby is Snow's Cut Park, Carolina Beach, Carolina State Park, Fort Fisher and Kure Beach, a nature lover's paradise just down the road. Along with Carolina Beach Restaurants including the infamous Britt's Doughnuts, the shopping and dining venues of Monkey Junction lie in the opposite direction.
A 955 seat theatre for performing arts, the Minnie Evans Art Center, is about a mile outside the Woodlake entrance on the campus of Ashley High School. Ashley is the newest public high school in Wilmington and has also hosted several film crews making movies for the big and small screen. The younger families have Murray Middle School for those in 6-8 grades and Anderson Elementary for K thru 5th grade. The community also has plans for a safewalk structure to the schools. Be sure to check for the most recent school assignments since they change periodically.
Woodlake is less than 10 miles from both Historic Downtown Wilmington and the Cape Fear Riverfront and the University of North Carolina Wilmington campus with a world of shopping and culinary opportunities in between.
Within the confines of Woodlake lie the 7-acre Bass Lake and the 11-acre Wood Lake both are very desirable destinations for the residents to enjoy fishing and kayaking when they aren't engaged at the community pool or enjoying cookouts at the clubhouse.
